Can You Buy Bay Area Real Estate with a VA Home Loan?

One of the most frequent questions we get is “Can I actually Buy Bay Area Real Estate with a VA Home Loan?”

Well, the answer to that is “YES”. Even in the competitive market for homes that we are seeing today we have been able to close many sales for buyers who are utilizing their VA Home Loan benefit. I’m not saying that it’s easy or a “slam dunk” but with the proper perspective and lots of hard work it can be done. The current market for homes in the Bay Area is pretty competitive at the low to mid price point levels mainly as a result of the low number of homes on the market. In addition we have not seen the number of short sales or bank owned homes grow as expected. In fact the number being listed has decreased over the last several months. Because we do expect inventory of the distressed home loan properties hit the market the environment and opportunity for successfully buying Bay Area Real Estate with a VA Home Loan will improve. We will see inventory increases beginning in late March and run through the summer months.

My message is to not get discouraged, align yourself with a great agent who understands Bay area Real Estate and the VA home loan, and make sure that you get pre-approved by a great lender who also understands the VA Home Loan.

As always feel free to contact me directly for a FREE consultation about buying a Bay Area Home with your VA Home Loan benefit.
